The property is an upside down Cottage, the bedroom and bathroom are downstairs and the lounge, kitchen and dining areas are upstairs to take advantage of the lovely views up the valley. There is a four poster bed in the bedroom and a corner spa bath in the bathroom, both of these rooms having a stone flagged floor.

To reach Writers Cottage in Cumbria, from Alston, take the A689 for 2.5 miles towards Nenthead. Just after the Nenthall Hotel turn left where there is a brown tourist sign to Rock House Estate. Follow the lane for about 1.5 miles. Valley View is a stone house on the right hand side. The owners will give you the key and show you to the Cottage.
