Property Location: La Lemière is a charming hamlet in the Charente Maritime 10 mins south of the market town of Surgeres and is surrounded by sunflowers, cornfields and wild hedgerows. It is situated approx 30 mins from La Rochelle and the beaches of the Atlantic coast. The area, in gently undulating countryside, has its own micro-climate, giving it almost as many sunshine hours as the Mediterranean resorts in the south of France. The hamlet benefits from no through traffic, making it peaceful and very safe for children yet it is just off the D114 between the villages of Vandré and Genouillé.
Distance from town: Vandré has a baker and both villages have a butcher, bar/tabac and post office. Vandré also has an open-air swimming pool. Surgères 10-mins away has an indoor market and good restaurants, pavement cafes, supermarkets and a Sports Complex.
Area activities: The mediaeval town of La Rochelle is about half an hour’s drive away. The nearest beaches to us are within a 30 min drive. The beautiful off-shore islands of Ré and Oléron are easily reached by bridges from the mainland.
