The Area

The Old Barn at Killinchy, County Down is surrounded by fields, trees and farm animals. The Barn is a very peaceful, secluded place, yet only 1.5 miles from Balloo Village which has a Post Office, Bank, two Grocery Stores, a Restaurant/Pub and Tearoom.

Strangford Lough, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, is a mere five minutes drive away. There are several Christian Heritage Sites in the area, including the Grave of St.Patrick. Three National Trust properties, only 10-45 minutes drive away, a delight for all nature lovers and gardeners. A car is essential to fully explore this lovely area of Northern Ireland.

The Property

This unique self catering accommodation, awarded 3 stars by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, was originally built as a barn in 1868, was converted into a cosy holiday home by the present owners, is part of a 95 acre farm, set in classic County Down countryside.

Accommodation on the first floor includes a Kitchen: Spacious and fully equipped, including microwave/grill/oven, dishwasher, four ring electric cooker with oven, breakfast bar and fridge with freezer compartment. Living Room: Dining room table, comfortable seating, colour television, video player, radio/cd player and multi-fuel coal/peat and wood burning stove. Ensuite family room with shower, toilet, wash hand basin and hot press contains a Master Bedroom with double bed, 2 large fitted wardrobes and a small adjacent room with guest bed.

On the ground floor a Hall: Gives access to front door and bedroom. Self contained Bedroom, contains: Double bed, ensuite toilet and wash basin, clothes hanging facilities and drawer space. Utility room: Washing machine, tumble dryer and clothes drying rack and rail; also outdoor drying facilities. There is a garden (with garden furniture), which guests can use. It is secluded, safe for kids and the adults can enjoy some nice views over the surrounding countryside.

The barn is heated by a dual system; the radiators throughout the unit are heated by the wood burning stove (wood provided) or if you don't want to light the fire there are electric heaters for every room.
