Property Location: Swallows Nest is located in the delightful village of Bamburgh, Northumberland. Northumberland is a surprising and beautiful region immersed in history and renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. Bamburgh, often described as the jewel in Northumberland’s crown, is situated 50 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne and is easily accessible from the A1 trunk road.
Swallows Nest is ideally located for a family holiday in Northumberland. Situated in a small development called Armstrong Cottages, in view of Bamburgh Castle, it is a short walk from Bamburgh village and just a stroll away from a magnificent sandy beach that enjoys great views of the Farne Islands just over a mile offshore.
After days out exploring this fascinating region or just having family fun on the beach, all your home comforts are provided for at Swallows Nest. The cottage has much of the charm of a ‘beach house’ but with the benefits of spacious internal planning, two bathrooms and contemporary fittings. It is very well equipped to a high standard of comfort.
The sunny rear garden is fully enclosed with a large timber deck for eating alfresco or just sitting back and relaxing. A calor gas barbeque and outdoor furniture are provided.
Armstrong Cottages benefit from being very quiet and safe from traffic. They have plenty of space to play and a lovely open aspect with views of the dunes and Bamburgh Castle.
Distance from town: Swallows Nest is less than a mile from Bamburgh village and about 2 miles from Seahouses village and harbour. Newcastle upon Tyne is 50 miles away. There are many places of interest nearby.

Swallows Nest in Bamburgh, Northumberland can be reached by flying into Newcastle upon Tyne Airport then by car: (approx. 60 minutes travel time). Travelling on the A1 (approx. 50 miles north from Newcastle upon Tyne) take the B1341 and the right hand turning to Bamburgh. Drive through the village of Bamburgh passing the Castle on your left. Continue along the B1340 road to Seahouses. Armstrong Cottages are easily recognisable, as they are all painted green facing out to the dunes. The turning for the development is first right immediately after a telephone box on the right side of the road. Approximately ¼ of a mile from the Castle and opposite car park for beach. Once on the Armstrong Cottage development turn immediately left and you will find Swallows Nest on the right hand side as you drive round the square.
Directions from Chathill Station/Swinhoe
From Chathill Station proceed along road towards coast and Swinhoe at Swinhoe junction the road becomes B1340 passing Beadnell, through Seahouses and following coast towards Bamburgh Castle.
When approaching Bamburgh turn left into Armstrong Cottages just after 30mph speed signs and just after beach car park on the right.
Once on the Armstrong development turn immediately left and you will find Swallows Nest on the right hand side as you drive round the square. Further details available from the property owner upon confirmation of the booking.
