Shepherd's Cottage at Gubhill Farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland is a newly modernised three star property occupying part of the old stone steading of a small farm, which overlooks an unspoiled valley in the Forest of Ae. The property will suit anyone who enjoys the peace, beauty and freedom of the countryside. Gubhill Farm is a small 610 acre unit with 15 acres of newly planted broadleaf woodland, 20 acres of lowland field and 25 acres of hill land. The farm is being managed along ecologically friendly lines and traditional hedges and field margins are being planted.
The town of Thornhill is nine miles away with two small supermarkets, and a range of antique, gift and clothing shops. Just beyond the town you will find Drumlanrig Castle and Country Park. In the summer months the house is open to the public and provides an excellent day out. A car is essential to fully explore this lovely region of Dumfries and Galloway.

To reach Shepherd's Cottage at Gubhill Farm in Ae, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, from the south head for Dumfries, go around the ring road and take the A701 north towards Moffat for approximately 7 miles. Watch for signs to Ae Village and Ae Forest on the left on the big downward overtaking stretch just before Parkgate. Go left. You pass the village after 2 miles. Keep straight on with the river on the right. Gubhill is the big white farm on the right after the next 2 miles.
From the north, exit the M74 at Junction 15 & head for Dumfries. It's 10 miles of forests and fields & a narrow bridge before you come to Parkgate. Ignore the Ae singe in Parkgate, take the Ae Village singe on the right after it. You pass the village after 2 miles. Keep straight on with the river on the right.
