The Pride of Leyden Houseboat is situated at a picturesque spot in the Nieuwe Rijn, a small arm of the river Rhine, which is one of the three important rivers in the Netherlands.
Leiden is a market town, whose market has been in existence for more than 900 years. Its university, which welcomed such world famous scholars as Spinoza, Einstein and Niels Bohr, recently had its 430th anniversary. Countless museums bear witness to Leiden’s important role in Holland’s history. And let’s not forget Rembrandt van Rijn, named after the river Rhine which flows through Leiden and in which the Pride of Leyden is moored. At the same time, Leiden is very much a modern town. It is great for shopping and eating out. As it’s quite compact, all amenities can easily be reached on foot. You can stroll through the historic cobble stoned centre, visit one of the museums or take a drink on one of the floating terraces.
Walks: The Leiden Loop, In the footsteps of the young Rembrandt, Along Leiden’s almshouses, the Pilgrim Fathers, the Citadel.
Excursions: A day in Leiden, Puzzle Trips, boat trips to the lakes and canals, in the vicinity or as far as Amsterdam.
Lakenfeesten, at the end of June, is a 4-day outdoor festival, comprising of the Culinary Festival, Dragonboat Race, Best Market Salesman Tournament, and the Gouden Pet (Golden Cap) festival for best street musician.
Walk around and read some of the 100 wall-poems, visit the remains of the Vrouwenkerk, where the Pilgrims worshipped, the Pilgrim Museum and the Pilgrim Archives or rent a water bike, rowboat or canoe. The possibilities are endless basing your holiday from the Pride of Leyden Houseboat.
The Pride of Leyden Houseboat in Leiden has been recently refurbished and offers all modern comforts. This fully equipped, centrally heated Houseboat can accommodate three guests.
Accommodation: Open plan, fully equipped, living room/kitchen area, main bedroom with king-size bed, study with single sofa bed, bathroom with large shower area; toilet and wash basin, washing machine. The boat also has a lovely veranda 4 x 1.5 metres.
On the first day a full Dutch breakfast with various types of bread with several sweet and savoury toppings, including cheese; eggs,
yoghurt and muesli, milk and orange juice, tea or coffee will be provided.

To reach The Pride of Leyden Houseboat in Leiden, the Netherlands, from the train station, you can take either a taxi or a bus. The owner will collect guests from the train station by prior arrangement.
Taxi: there is a stand in front of the railway station. Tell the driver the boat lies behind the Hendo cafeteria on Hoge Rijndijk, opposite Burggravenlaan.
Bus: you can take any of the numbers 11, 12, 28, 169, 182, 186 or 187 (in the direction Leiderdorp, Alphen a/d Rijn or Gouda); get off at the bus stop Burggravenlaan on the Hoge Rijndijk. Cross the road toward the Hendo cafeteria and take the small street (Catharinastraat) on the left. At the end lies the Pride of Leyden.
