A three minute stroll takes you to the heart of this historic Border town, which is an ideal base for exploring both this special corner of Northumbria and the Scottish Borders. In Berwick there are several pubs, hotels and a good selection of shops, including some that provide fresh local produce. The twice weekly market is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Berwick has golden beaches in abundance, one town golf course and just to the south, a links course. The River Tweed, famed for its salmon, has regular boat trips. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands are only a few miles to the south with seal and bird sanctuary's. Sea angling trips, River Tweed angling permits, trout pond fishing can be arranged by the owner. Nearby can also be found cycle hire and pony trekking.
