Les Truquailles is a delightfully spacious, comfortable house set in its own gardens within walking distance of the village of Les Mages. It is within easy driving distance of many areas of historical interest and close to the mountains of The Cevennes and The Gorge d’Ardeche.

Les Mages is a friendly village and is within very easy walking distance of the house. The village has a small restaurant, bar, tabac, post office, cash machine, chemist, hairdresser, butcher, boulangerie, taxi’s a small supermarket and medical facilities. Close by, there are opportunities for river swimming, canoeing, cycling, horse riding and dancing at the local health spa of Allegre-les Fumades. The Chemin de Robert Louis Stevenson, is nearby but there are also opportunities for less rigorous forms of walking, and also extensive opportunities for rock climbing. There is an adventure park nearby and facilities for golf and fishing. Summer fetes, music festivals and daily markets enable one to immerse oneself totally in the life of the South of France. Les Mages has its own market on a Wednesday and a larger one takes place in St. Ambroix, 5km away each Tuesday.

The Village is situated in The Gard a department of Languedoc Roussillon. The area is known for its many wine producing areas, fields of sunflowers, lavender and ancient villages. There are sites of historical interest nearby, such as the Pont du Gard which require a drive of less than 40km and also the cities of Nimes with its fantastic Roman amphitheatre and Avignon with the impressive Palace de Papes. The delightful towns of Barjac and Uzes are close by. A drive of between an hour and an hour and a half will take you to the Mediterranean coast at Le Grau de Roi, La Grande Motte, or the wild and unspoiled l’Espiguette. For bird-watchers there is the opportunity to see Flamingoes in the Camargue. Aix en Provence and Arles are slightly further away.

Languedoc Roussillon is the western neighbour of Provence across the River Rhone. The region is pleasantly rural and well served with the wine producing regions of the Cote de Rhone and the Costiers de Nimes, local markets, stunning towns and villages and every aspect of Languedocian life. There are, in the summer, a multitude of village fetes, music festivals and community activities. The area is, quite simply, delightful and an extremely diverse area in which to spend a vacation. A car is essential at this property for full exploration of the beautiful area.

Les Truquailles is a substantial, fully equipped property which can accommodate seven guests plus a further two if the comfortable double sofa bed in the second ground floor lounge is used. The house is airy and delightfully cool in summer, with the advantage of electric heating throughout, for the cooler months. The house is well maintained and decorated to a high standard.

Accommodation: Ground Floor: On the ground floor there is a light spacious lounge with French windows which lead onto a small terrace and into the garden. There is a television, dvd player, cd player and Wi-Fi. The lounge has comfortable chairs and sofa.
Leading off the lounge there is a dining room, which in turn leads to a fully equipped kitchen. The dining table can seat eight.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a four ring hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. From the dining room there is a further lounge which contains the double sofa bed, a desk, a variety of books, games, maps and dvds. Also on the ground floor there is a large bedroom with two single beds and another single bedroom. A toilet, and shower room are also located on the ground floor.

First Floor: On the first floor there are two bedrooms. One with a king sized double bed and the other with two single beds. There is also a bathroom and a separate toilet. Hairdryers are provided.

Outside: There are spacious, sheltered gardens with a variety of opportunities for eating outdoors. The gardens have both shaded and sunny areas and are equipped with tables, garden furniture, hammocks and a plunge pool. There is also a garage and parking area for several cars.

Les Truquailles is situated in Les Mages in the Languedoc Roussillon region of France. It would be advisable to have the use of a car, however it is possible to get to the house via public transport. Further details available from the property owner on confirmation of the booking.
