There are many places to visit in the region - Limoges and Poitiers offer excellent shopping and Futuroscope really is a must for all ages; a little further afield the beaches of La Rochelle and the Isle du Ré (1.5 hours) are well worth a visit. There are weekly markets in most of the surrounding towns and villages offering their regional gastronomic delights. Activities such as kayaking and water-sports on the river Vienne, numerous chateaux and wine tours. The Haute-Vienne has vast expanses of chestnut forests and wildlife and is ideal for anyone who enjoys walking, fishing, cycling or bird watching. The area is renowned for its beautiful lakes, some with manmade beaches offering safe swimming and water sports, sailing and woodland marked trails.
The cottage has now been modified to offer comfortable accommodation for 8 people comprising a small entrance vestibule, large fully equipped kitchen/dining room including gas cooker, dishwasher, refrigerator, wood burning cuisiniere, sitting room (sejour) with television/video. Large family bedroom with vanity basin; a cot and high chair are provided on request, shower room with washing machine and separate toilet. French doors from the sitting room open onto a large private south facing garden enclosing swimming pool 11m x 5.5m with garden furniture and barbecue. All linen and towels provided, also inclusive of electricity and logs. NB.: bedroom 3 is accessed through the double bedroom. There is only 1 toilet facility. The cottage is part of a working sheep farm and occupants must expect some light farm traffic - tractors and the occasional delivery lorry etc. Sorry no pets allowed. Guests are asked not to smoke.
Bellgarde Limoges 30kms
Just off the N147, north of Limoges. Limoges Bellegarde airport 40km (1/2 hour) is served by Air France and Buzz (KLM) Airlines. Alternatively Poitiers Biard Airport is 80km, where Buzz Airlines also operate a frequent UK service. Previously arranged car hire pick-up is available at both these airports. The fast TGV train service operates from Poitiers to connect with Eurostar at Paris/Lille/Brussels (e.g. journey time 3.5 hrs to Lille) and other main cities. There is a local connecting service to Limoges and Poitiers from Le Dorat train station throughout the year. The proprietor will provide further details on confirmation.
