Langcliffe Locks Cottage in Langcliffe near Settle is a former mill workers cottage, situated in a quiet rural location at the bottom of a country lane with the river on one side and a charming mill pond on the other. It is one of just twelve houses built in a cobbled street in 1783 to house workers for the cotton mill and has recently been lovingly and meticulously restored. The cottage makes an ideal base from which to discover the Yorkshire Dales. A car is essential to fully explore all this lovely area has to offer.
The surrounding Yorkshire Dales and the Three Peaks offer waterfalls, walks, spectacular views and caves in abundance. The town of Settle, just a mile away across the fields has a variety of pubs, restaurants and shops and its Tuesday market is well worth a visit.
The Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty lies just to the west of the cottage and it's no more than an hours drive to the southern Lake District.
Langcliffe Locks Cottage in Langcliffe, North Yorkshire is a charming two bedroom property to accommodate four guests, which has been awarded four stars by the English Tourism Council. The Cottage has been recently renovated and is furnished to a high standard throughout, yet still retains its original character.
On the ground floor is a living room/dining area with multi fuel stove, digital television, DVD player and stereo system and a fully equipped kitchen with window looking out over the mill pond. Upstairs there is a large double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with adult size bunk beds. There is a downstairs bathroom with electric shower over the bath. The Cottage has a modern gas fired central heating system with radiators in all rooms.
The Cottage is located on a cobbled street. It has a small patio area at the rear, which opens out though a small gate onto a private path which runs alongside the delightful mill pond. A picnic table in the patio area enables you to sit and gaze over the mill pond and watch the ducks. There is parking for one car outside the front of the property and a second car, if required, at the bottom of the lane. Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement with the property owners.
