Situated in a river valley village, encompassed by three chateaux. Ideal for walking and cycling. Five kilometres from the romanesque town of Melle. Wonderful market on Friday mornings. There are three churches, a botanical walk and Silver Mines. One hour's drive from Poitiers (Futuroscope) and La Rochelle (on the coast). The town of Niort is only twenty five minutes drive where there is pedestrian shopping, market, river walks and castle. There is also a golf course nearby.
18th century detached gite for five persons. Decorated in lovely sunny Mediterranean colours. Exposed beams, tiles and parquet flooring throughout. Ground floor accommodation. Wood burner and radiators for the cooler months, ideal for Christmas holidays and long lets.
Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, cooker, fridge. Open plan dining area with table and chairs. Colour television (French) good for practising the language but plenty of videos to choose from. Radio/cassette/c.d. plus selection of books and games.
Off the hallway we have two bedrooms. The double bedroom with wrought iron bed and French doors leading to the grapevine and herb garden area. The twin bedroom is large enough to accommodate another single bed on request. Both bedrooms with wood panelling, decorated in warm yellows and ochre.
The large shower room with tiled floor, washbasin, w.c. shaver point and hairdryer.
Roses, herbs and vines surround the patio area. Patio table and chairs with gas barbeque make an ideal setting for eating out ‘al fresco’, especially as you have lovely views over the gardens and across the valley.
£25 payment for radiators and wood per week required.
Poitiers - 60 kms.
From Poitiers ring road take the N10 south. After 5 kms. turn right onto N11. Do not take the first blue Niort sign for A10-E5. After 16 kms. you will come to a series of three roundabouts. Stay on N11 until the third roundabout - take the third exit left onto the D150 which becomes D950. After 32 kms. at Melle go over the roundabout signposted Saintes, still on the D950, Shell garage on your right. After 2 kms. turn left onto D120 signposted Paizay le Tort. Stay on this small winding road, after 5 kms. you will pass the village church on your left. We are 1 km. near the bottom of the hill on the left, opposite a right hand turn with 'STOP' sign. If you go over the river Berlande bridge you have gone too far. Further details available from the property owner upon confirmation.
