Keepers Cottage is situated in the centre of Gillamoor, which is a small working farm village in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The village has a pub and country restaurant within 50 yards of the property, which is an old coaching inn, whilst a short drive will take you into Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and Helmsley, which all have further facilities.
It is an ideal location from which to tour the Yorkshire Dales and Moors and the scenic Yorkshire Coast with famous and picturesque resorts like Scarborough, Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby. The area has a variety of spectacular scenery with excellent walking, riding and cycling. A host of attractions are easily accessible from Gillamoor, including historic York (27 miles), Eden Camp (14 miles), Yorkshire Air Museum (27 miles), Flamingoland Theme Park (7 miles), Castle Howard (Brideshead Revisited TV series) (12 miles), Goathland (Heartbeat’s Aidensfield) (15 miles), Moors Steam Railway at Pickering (9 miles), James Herriot Experience at Thirsk (20 miles). A car is essential at this property to fully explore all this lovely area has to offer guests.
Keepers Cottage in Gillamoor, near Pickering in North Yorkshire is a cosy converted barn attached to the owners home and dates back to 1766. This charming two bedroom property is able to accommodate up to four guests. The property has been awarded four stars by the English Tourism Council.
Accommodation, all on the ground floor, includes a large lounge with open fireplace. Fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and a fridge/freezer in the larder. Two bedrooms, one double and one twin. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, washbasin and wc.
Large grounds with orchard, off road parking. Guests are very welcome to sit in the orchard which has apple and plum trees together with bushes of gooseberries, red and blackcurrants. There is a paved area for a portable barbecue, which may be borrowed on request.
