Gardenrath Lodge is located on the edge of Ferns village in County Wexford. Ferns is a 'gateway' village into County Wicklow, with its numerous gardens and tourist trails; Powerscourt, Glendalough, Coollattin, Shillelagh and Rathdrum's Celtic Maze are just a few.

Enniscorthy, a ten minute drive, is overlooked by Vinegar Hill. Steeped in history, this busy market town offers a swimming pool/recreation centre and multiplex cinema. Gorey, 15 minutes away, has superb restaurants, spas and wonderful shops, also a high-tech cinema. Not far away are the historically fascinating and picturesque towns of Wexford, Waterford, Carlow and Kilkenny.

Heading eastwards to the Coast you can take in beaches at Ballymoney, Courtown, Blackwater or Curracloe Beach where the D-Day Landings scene in 'Saving Private Ryan' was shot. Spot a whale or dolphin off the coast. Visit the Hook Peninsula and Hook Head Lighthouse. Take an afternoon trek back through our history in the National Heritage Park. Go horse racing at Wexford or Gowran Park or if golf is your game, there are lots of courses within twelve miles. We are just over the border from Co Wicklow - famed for its hills and woodlands. Coollattin Golf Club is our local and we provide sets of clubs free to anyone so inclined. We are on the bus routes to Dublin city/airport and most of the neighbouring towns so why not leave your car for one day and use public transport.

Experience a slice of Irish village life, stroll into the village for your morning paper or escape to the fields behind to feed the wild pheasants and rabbits. Enjoy the views of the Wicklow Hills while you 'talk' to the horses, hens and ducks. Check out the Bat Colony, they emerge after sunset or lounge in the garden hammock and listen to birdsong.

In the Village, take a walk back in time through the historic village ruins. Take a guided tour (free) of the Castle and view the Tapestries in the Visitor Centre. Get in touch with your Spiritual Side or just spend a quiet few minutes visiting St Aidan's Monastery nearby. The village boasts two restaurants and 4 takeaways!

Gardenrath Lodge in Ferns, County Wexford, Ireland is a superbly equipped, three bedroom, detached bungalow to accommodate five guests. There are fabulous views of the Wicklow hills from the back garden. This place is great for week-long holidays or just a weekend getaway!

The bungalow is bright and airy with excellent cooking facilities.
The fully equipped, open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room has a porch/utility at the rear. There is a wood burning stove and oil fired central heating throughout. Three bedrooms, a king-size, a twin and a single, accommodate five guests. There is one bathroom with a shower over the bath.

So after your day out settle down to watch a dvd or listen to some music - snuggle up in our bathrobes, pop some logs on the stove and pour a glass of wine, or fix a bowl of popcorn from the microwave. Bed linen and plenty of towels with some toiletries are provided. Two well behaved pets are welcome at this property. There is also an array of toys for the little ones, with a highchair/cot available on request. We supply a Wii console with several games and a Wii fit. There is a second television in the single room with a dvd player and some dvds.

A lockup garage, and a fully enclosed garden is almost completely secluded with access to the fields beyond. There is garden furniture, a hammock, slide and swing set, barbeque and onsite parking.

The owners provide a welcome hamper on your arrival of tea/milk/butter and freshly baked scones and some other luxuries in season such as organic salad, fruit or preserves from our garden with maybe some organic eggs. If you book for a week they throw in a bottle of wine! There is also a Picnic Cooler all set to go, just boil up some eggs and potatoes, leave to cool, pick up some Mayonnaise and Wexford Cheddar at the local store.

NEW FOR 2012 - Jewelry, Knitting and Crochet Classes. Learn Basic Crochet or Knitting - materials provided. Weave a beaded bracelet or necklace or create Sterling Silver Earrings or learn the art of stringing your own Natural Freshwater Pearl necklace. Men, Women and children all enjoy these easy to learn skills. Materials and 4 hours tuition - 80 Euro for 1 and 10 Euro per extra person.(20 Euro extra for Pearls, Silk and findings if used) The above fees cover tuition time, heating, use of tools, as well as all materials required for item/items made with a qualified Craft Instructor with over 40 years experience.Pre-Booking is necessary so that appropriate kits are prepared. Gardenrath Lodge in Ferns, County Wexford, Ireland, from Dublin Airport follow the signs for the M50 Southbound until you see directions for the N11. Drive for about 4 miles until you reach the N11 and head south for 70 miles until you reach Ferns village. Drive straight ahead uphill at the roundabout keeping the modern church on your left. At the top of the street continue straight (keep Doyle's Bar on your left) towards Carnew but slowly because Gardenrath is the 4th house on the right.

From Wexford follow the N11 Northbound through Enniscorthy Ferns is 5 miles later. On reaching the roundabout take a left uphill keeping the modern church on your left. At the top of the street continue straight (keep Doyle's Bar on your left) towards Carnew but slowly because Gardenrath is the 4th house on the right.

From Bunclody/Carlow/Kilkenny take the N80 until it reaches the N11 Roundabout. Take the first left and Ferns is 3 miles away. At the roundabout in Ferns take a left uphill keeping the modern church on your left. At the top of the street continue straight (keep Doyle's Bar on your left) towards Carnew but slowly because Gardenrath is the 4th house on the right.

From Rosslare Ferryport take the 2nd exit to the N25 (signposted All Routes, Wexford). Drive to the 1st roundabout (Rosslare Roundabout) and take 1st exit onto N25 (signposted Cork). You are now on the Wexford town bypass. Drive to 2nd roundabout (Duncannon Roundabout) and take 2nd exit onto N25 (signposted New Ross, Enniscorthy). Drive to 3rd roundabout (New Ross Roundabout) and take the 2nd exit onto the N11 (signposted Dublin). Drive the N11 through Oilgate and on to Enniscorthy. Take a left on to the Bridge but get to the right lane and stay on the N11 (one way system signposted Dublin, Carlow). Leaving the Bridge stay on the left lane here and continue straight out of the town and towards Dublin ( N11). At the roundabout (Enniscorthy Roundabout) take 2nd exit (signposted Dublin N11). Drive to the next roundabout take 2nd exit (signposted Gorey, Dublin N11). Drive about 10 mins and you will reach Ferns. At the roundabout take the 1st exit uphill keeping the modern church on your left. At the top of the village stop and drive across the street to go towards Carnew and keep Doyle's Bar on your left. Slowly here, soon on your right you will see a grey and white bungalow. The entrance to Gardenrath Lodge is immediately next.
