Chez Haughton near Limoges, France is set in rolling wooded countryside, in a small hamlet near two large leisure lakes with many activities and nature reserves.
There are shops and restaurants in nearby villages and the towns of Chasseneuil, Chabanais and Roumazieres, with its excellent open-air swimming facilities. Several chateaux and castles are close to hand, as are Roman baths at Chassenon, reputed to be the best preserved outside of Italy. Also of interest is the War Memorial and cemetery at Chasseneuil, Adventure Park at Lesignac-Durand and the Velorail at Roumazieres.
Further afield are the delightful cities of Limoges, famous for its porcelain, and Angouleme, with its ramparts, medieval houses and cobbled streets. Cognac, and the opportunity to visit one of its many distilleries, is just over an hours drive, and Bordeaux and the beaches of the Charente Maritime can be reached in under three hours. A car is essential to appreciate all this lovely area has to offer.
Chez Haughton in the Charente region of France is a fully converted traditional farmhouse with exposed beams and furnished mainly with antique furniture.
Accommodation includes a large kitchen/dining room with terracotta tiled floor, refectory table and six chairs, fridge-freezer, electric cooker, microwave oven and radio/cassette/cd player. Spacious lounge with wooden floor and large rug, double sofa bed, armchairs and coffee table, wood-burning stove and Satellite TV with vcr player. Stairs to the bedroom with sloping ceiling and two single beds, hanging rail and shelves. Large modern bathroom, with toilet, bidet, basin, bath and separate shower. Conservatory with terracotta tiled floor with washing machine.
Outside the patio overlooks a large pretty garden with lawns, rockery, walnut, fruit trees and fields with sheep and cows. Barbecue and garden furniture are provided.
