Chalet Lowonahill in Austria is ideally located in the small friendly village of Stadl an der Mur, close to the source of the River Mur. The village has a good choice of restaurants and a leisure centre with a bathing lake, play area, tennis court, beach volleyball facilities and a half pipe for inline skaters. The village is situated right next to the Mur River cycle path, its new timber bridge (Mursteg) is considered the Gateway to the Mur Valley. The nearby towns of St Lorenzen, Murau and Tamsweg have numerous good quality restaurants and the famous Austrian cake shops.
On the doorstep are the ski regions of Turracher and Kreischberg, which has over 80km of skiing including 24 lifts, 8 chairlifts, 14 drag lifts, 2 cable cars. There is a snow park, half pipe, ski school for children from 4 years old, 25km of cross country ski tracks, toboggan runs, slalom run, ice-skating, snow shoe hiking, night skiing and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Apart from enjoying the splendour of the many mountain lakes in the summer, the region also offers mountain bike trails, summer tobogganing, fishing in Lake Turracher See, tennis courts, horse riding & trekking in Bad Kleinkirchheim and a variety of golf courses.
The region is home to many castles that display the medieval history of the area. Nearby are Finstergrün Castle near Ramingstein, Mauterndorf Castle and Moosham Castle, Unternberg near Tamsweg. A car is essential at this property for full exploration of the beautiful area of Steiermark.
