To reach Burn Cottage in Hethersgill, Cumbria, from the south follow the M6 north bound to Carlisle. Exit M6 at Junction 44. Take the A7 to Longtown, third left off the roundabout at Junction 44. In Longtown take the second right turn into Swan Street. If you pass the traffic lights, you have gone too far.
From the north follow the A74 south bound to Gretna. From Gretna take A7 to Longtown. Go over the river Esk and take second left into Swan Street. Just after the traffic lights. From Swan Street in Longtown. Travel down Swan Street, ignore right hand junction to Brampton. Continue all the way through the built up area, past the National Speed Limit sign. Take the first right beyond the speed limit zone, signed for Solport. Follow this road for 5.5 miles and you will see the sign for New Pallyards.
