The Gites at Les Granges are situated in the heart of rural France, only a stones throw from the medieval town of St Jean d’Angély with its bustling markets, shops, bars, wonderfully inexpensive restaurants and leisurely lifestyle, that goes hand in hand with a micro-climate, making it one of the sunniest regions of France. You will become captivated by the gentle Cognac countryside (not to mention cognac itself!). Nearby attractions include the Place de Pilori, Museum, Abbey, Gothic Church and covered market, which was originally a herb market.
Nearby activities include golf, indoor and outdoor tennis, horse riding, water skiing, go-karting, Atlantys the town’s indoor aquatic centre and aerobics studio, excellent fishing, moto-cross and skate boarding.
Les Granges is ideally situated next to the River Boutonne and the historic town of St Jean d’Angely. The Atlantic coast is only a short drive, with sailing, wind-surfing, surfing, sandy beaches on offer. The resort towns of La Rochelle, Royan, Cognac, Rochefort and nearby Saintes are all worth a visit. This area in south west France, is well known for its historic and beautiful coastline, vineyards and good food. A car is essential to fully explore this lovely region.
