A wide variety of fish and shellfish can be bought in nearby Kallin. During the summer months, tea, coffee and home baking is available from Kallin School House on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Seven miles south in Balivanich are two supermarkets, a launderette, butcher, bank, post office, travel agent, restaurant, airport, hospital and riding school. A further five miles south, a library, swimming pool with sauna, tennis courts, fitness suite and games hall are all available at Liniclate Community School.
Other nearby attractions include horse riding, fishing and golf. The area is a paradise for nature lovers, wildlife watchers, artists and photographers. A car is essential at this property.
An Taigh Fiodh in Baymore on the Island of Grimsay, Scotland is a fully equipped apartment on two floors, occupying one end of an original, architect designed house, built in 2006, with beautiful views overlooking the bay. This one bedroom property is able to accommodate two guests.
The apartment comprises of one bedroom, either double or twin, located in the upstairs gallery. The bed/beds have a remote control facility for comfort to sit up and read, or to put your feet up after a tiring day walking. The bedroom window looks out across the loch, with Benbecula in the distance. The bathroom contains a power shower, heated towel rail and plenty of storage. An elegant and modern kitchen facility, contained in a cupboard-style unit, comprises of a two ring ceramic hob, fridge with freezer compartment, sink, deluxe microwave oven, dishes, pots and pans, glasses, cutlery and tableware. The kitchen unit can be closed after use. A dining table for two is set by the window overlooking the bay. All bed linen and towels are provided. There is a television supplying Freeview, i.e. all free TV and radio channels, including News 24. A selection of games, travel guides and maps is provided, together with books on local places of interest, birds, wildlife, flora and fauna and fishing. There will be a WiFi facility as soon as it becomes available for laptop use. This property is a no pets, no smoking apartment.

To reach An Taigh Fiodh at Baymore on the Island of Grimsay, Scotland, immediately after leaving the main island of North Uist, head south over the causeway to the Island of Grimsay. Take the first turning on the left in the direction of Kallin Harbour. Baymore can be seen in the distance, approximately one mile from the turn off. An Taigh Fiodh can be seen on a hill. There are daily flights from Glasgow, Stornoway and Barra to Benbecula Airport, seven miles away. You can also fly to/from Inverness and Aberdeen, via Stornoway. An Taigh Fiodh is located sixteen miles from the ferry terminal at Lochmaddy, to which you can sail from Skye. Alternatively, you could sail from Oban to Lochboisdale on South Uist, thirty four miles away. If you want to make the mainland part of your journey by train, you can travel via Oban or Kyle of Lochalsh from Glasgow.
