31 Via Ghilenda in Italy is one of twenty apartments superbly located, nestled high into the hillside, overlooking the old medieval village of Ameglia, the Magra River and the magnificent Apuan Alps beyond.
The village of Bocca di Magra, a short walk down the hill from the property, is where the Italian boating fraternity moor their yachts. From here, on a summer's evening you can sit in one of the local riverside bars or restaurants, watching the setting sun turn the distant mountains shades of pink, blue and mauve. From the little dock you can take a starlit ferry-ride over to Porto Venere for an evening, or to Punto Corvo for a day on a deserted beach.
Activities available in the area include sandy beaches to the south and rocky coves with pebbly beaches to the north, both wonderful. Punta Corvo is the inaccessible beach, reached by boat from Bocca di Magra, you are left there for hours and can pick up the next, or last, boat home, the boats run every two hours or so. There is tennis at Castelnuovo Magra and Go-Karting in Ameglia. Boat trips to Porto Venere, Cinque Terre, around the Golfo di Poeti, and even to Sardinia from La Spezia or Genoa all make for a fantastic day out.
