PROPERTY DETAILS
11 Rue De Saintonge in France is located in Romanziers, a tiny village whose inhabitants are for the most part farmers, or those who have decided to give up the pressures of city living. The only shop considered necessary in the village is the little boulangerie which bakes fresh bread and croissants every day from 8am except Thursdays.
The nearest village for supplies is Nere, approx. 5km, a reasonable bike ride if you are energetic and your load isn't too big! Farm vans come round with produce most days on the week selling cheeses, charcuterie, pate and oysters. They announce their arrival with a very piercing honk - you won't miss them! Otherwise there are markets, a trip out in themselves, at Aulnay, Chef-Boutonne, Matha, St Jean d'Angely, Brioux all within half an hour. A car is essential at this property.
11 Rue De Saintonge in Romanziers, France was a large barn attached to the owners house, which was converted to form a spacious, self contained apartment to accommodate two guests.
The property, on one level, is completely private with a high beamed ceiling. It is comfortably furnished with a double bed, chesterfield sofa, dining table, kitchen area and bathroom.
French windows open onto a secluded patio with access to the shared outdoor unheated swimming pool. A utility room, shared with the owners, has a sink, washing and drying machines.
La Rochell or Poitier 1.5 hours.
11 Rue De Saintonge is situated in Romanziers, France. From St Jean d’Angély. Going through St Jean follow signs to Angouleme. On leaving St Jean, start looking for signs to Aulnay. Just before Aulnay look for signs to Ruffec and Nére. At Néré follow signs for Ruffec. Just outside Néré the road divides, take the right turn for Romazières, turn right at the village square, then right again past the church and we’re about 100 yards on your right. Take the driveway up through the garden. If directions seem long winded, or you are more adventurous, there is an alternative route from the autoroute via Poitiers. We’ve found the Michelin motoring atlas of France (or Michelin maps no.71 and 72) most helpful for travelling long distance and local journeys.
