Barnsdale Hall & Country Club

We love going to Barnsdale. On the way we called in at Melton Mowbray for a fresh Dickinson & Morris Pork pie, then nipped next door to choose from their award winning sausages.
Late Saturday afternoon, as we sat and looked at the view of Rutland Water through the open patio doors, in walked a hen followed by two ducks anxious to make friends with the new arrivals.
Sunday lunch was at the Admiral Hornblower in Oakham - a delicious carvery with ample portions - whew we gave up on the idea of a walk afterwards until we could see our feet again.
We did the walks later in the week - the flat one past Normanton Church up to the dam and back is a good way to sharpen any appetite.
Stamford was full of interest but The Garden of Surprises at Burghley House will capture the imagination of garden lovers of all ages.
Best of all about Barnsdale - the peace and quiet where no-one ever bothers you - it's great!
