Woodside At The Dower House in Cumbria is situated above the River Duddon on the fells where the mountains sweep down to the sea amidst beautiful scenery and a wealth of outdoor activities. For hill walkers the Dunnerdale Fells are on the doorstep and a little further afield are the famous slopes of The Old Man of Coniston. To the north the wonderful valley of Wasdale awaits, the home to the highest mountain in England Sca Fell Pike. The flat sandy beaches of the Cumbrian coast are a short drive away, many having sandy coves, rock pools and peace and quiet. For the more adventurous sand yachting, windsurfing and sea fishing are readily available. The towns and villages of the Lake District range from the bustling to the sleepy and are a delight to explore. The Lake District is a haven for literary connections, Arthur Ransome, Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin and William Wordsworth all found inspiration here. With historic sights, breathtaking scenery and country houses all to explore it is difficult to imagine a more perfect holiday location.
The Dower House is a delightful, late Victorian Country House built on the site of a medieval pack horse inn. The house stands in over six acres of natural wooded grounds and gardens with tumbling streams and plentiful wildlife. The house has been thoughtfully adapted to provide versatile accommodation, either for bed and breakfast or self catering.
Woodside is one of four separate apartments. This spacious apartment comprises a large, elegant lounge/dining room with bay window overlooking the gardens, woodlands and Grizebeck Moor. There are two bedrooms off the lounge, one double and one small double, sleeping a total of 3 guests. One with a fully fitted bathroom, the second has a separate hand basin and wc.

To reach Woodside At The Dower House in Cumbria, leave the M6 at Junction 36 taking the A590 Barrow in Furness. Continue on the dual carriageway for three miles, then exit left, A590 Barrow in Furness, following the signs for Newby Bridge. Four and a half miles beyond Newby Bridge turn right onto the A5092, passing over the hill at Grizebeck. At the base of the hill is a petrol station continue on past this. The road now becomes the A595 to Workington. Continue past Foxfield Railway Station and after approximately two miles cross the Duddon Bridge (traffic lights). Immediately after the bridge turn right, following the river, signposted Corney, then immediate left, entering the signed driveway to the Dower House. Continue slowly up the drive to the house.
