Quite close to The Vines is a village in the direction of Chalais, called Aubiterre, the prettiest village in France. It has the oldest Monolithic Church and well worth a visit. At the same time you could visit Chalais, the big market is on Monday mornings. St Emillion and the surrounding area is a Mecca for wine buffs and the town is beautiful. A train ride around the vineyards etc. is available. The beautiful town of Cognac is approximately a half hours drive away and is the most chic town in Charente, it has lovely shopping and restaurants or you could take a visit to one of the cognac producers. The Vines is set in the tranquil countryside of Charente, yet only 1 hour to Bordeaux, Royan and La Rochelle, 30 mins to Angouleme, St Emillion and Aubiterre, 2 hours from Poitiers, Futuroscope and Biarritz. The property also adjoins a National Park.
The Vines in Touverac, France is very well appointed, yet retaining that rural farmhouse character, with 1 twin, 1 double bedroom and bathroom. The accommodation comprises of a lounge with a double bed settee and three piece suite. A single bed and cot can also be provided. The property is on one level with easy wheelchair access, with a large, fully fitted kitchen, two fridges and microwave oven. There is also a shared laundry room with washing machine and toilet. The house is equipped with a VHS player, so do bring your own video cassettes. The maximum occupancy for this property is six. On site is a lovely outdoor, fully alarmed, 12m swimming pool, with garden furniture and fishing lake. The Vines is part of a group of properties with the owner also having a house on the site.
