The town really does live up to expectations; it is immaculately preserved and surrounded by some of the loveliest countryside in Tuscany. San Gimignano is located midway between Pisa and Siena, only a thirty five minute drive northwest of Siena or southwest of Florence. The town also is known for the white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, grown in the area. A car is essential to fully appreciate all this lovely area has to offer.
