The Area

Property Location: In a quiet rural hamlet at the foothills of the eastern Cairngorm mountains near the village of Strathdon. The local pub is a quarter of a mile away and serves great food.

Distance from town: Two miles from Strathdon village where the local shop and post office offers a wide range of goods. Alford and Aboyne are both sixteen miles away, where you will find swimming pools, banks and shops.

Area activities: Visitors are well placed for whisky trails, castle trails, gardens, fishing, cycling, hill walking, orienteering, skiing and many other visitor attractions.

The Property

Style of property: The Red House, dating back to 1830, was the family home of the Blacksmith. Sympathetically extended and refurbished, the cottage now provides very comfortable accommodation whilst keeping the cottage feel to it.

Outlook & views: Beautiful views north over the Ladder Hills and Cairngorm Mountains and to the south the Bunzeach forest. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife at hand.

Outside living areas: French windows lead on to a south facing patio and private garden with picnic table. The front garden is also private and from here some magnificent sunsets can be enjoyed.

Aberdeen Airport 1 hour. Edinburgh 2.5 hours.

Directions

From Strathdon village travel east on the A944 towards Alford for two miles when you will come to a sign on the right for Heughhead. Turn right up the hill and the Red House is the third on the right.
