Les Saules is a charming four bedroom house in a beautiful setting on the bank of the River Lot in the Départment of Aveyron, France. This is a really good location for walking, cycling, or just relaxing. The river provides swimming for all the family, or for those who prefer to stay dry, canoeing and fishing, are practically on the doorstep.
Situated in the heart of south west France, the Midi-Pyrénées stretches from the wooded hills of the Dordogne to the river valleys of the Pyrénées. It is one of the largest regions in France, with ancient towns, villages, castles, Romanesque churches and a very deep history. If you’re in search of small medieval villages, rolling hills and wonderful landscapes in the mountains, this is the perfect place for you.
Les Saules is a lovely house on two levels, with the living area on the first floor. The open plan living/dining area is bright and airy with two sets of French doors leading out onto the terrace. The terrace is on two sides of the house, east and south facing, with wonderful views of the river.
Downstairs is the entrance hall, laundry room with sink, washing machine and oil fired boiler. Bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Large bedroom, with tiled floor, kingsize bed and French doors out into the garden. An interconnecting door leads to a small bedroom with a tiled floor, two single beds, bedside cabinets and French doors out into the garden.
Upstairs is the spacious open plan living area: sitting room with comfy leather sofas and dining area for eight with two sets of French doors out onto the terrace. The modern, spacious and well equipped kitchen has a fridge freezer, 4 ring cooker (gas and electric), electric oven, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen has direct access to the terrace. Separate wc with washbasin and a large family bathroom with spa bath and powerful shower. Large bedroom with twin captain’s beds, which can accommodate up to four people in one room. The pull out section of the bed also provides lower beds, if required, for young children. Large bedroom with king sized bed.
Outside are fully enclosed grounds of about three quarters of an acre with trees for shade and fresh fruit and nuts, in season. Terrace with BBQ to two sides of the property, table and chairs for outdoor living. Private outdoor swimming pool, 5m x 10m, open June to September. The pool is surrounded by a paved terrace for sunbathing with plenty of garden furniture. Driveway with parking for two cars.
Rodez-Marcillac 40km.
To reach Les Saules by car: Aveyron benefits from good road transport links such as the A75 (Paris/Clermont-Ferrand/Beziers link) and the RN88 (Toulouse/Lyon link). You can drive from St Malo or Le Havre ferry ports in just under eight hours, and from Santander in under seven. The drive from Calais is longer. Rodez-Marcillac airport is 40km from the house. Car hire is available at all of the airports. There are daily trains from Paris/Rodez and Toulouse/Rodez. Trains stop at Cap de nac station, which is 12km away. There are taxis at the station. Although Les Saules is in a village location on a bus route, and there is a train station nearby, we would recommend that you have access to a car.
