Les Rosiers is situated in one of the most popular regions of France, the Dordogne. It’s only ten minutes away from the world famous Lascaux II painted cave which is a ‘must visit’ when in this area of France. The area is known as ‘The Cradle of Mankind’, no wonder, it’s so rich in prehistoric sites. But it’s not just archaeology. There are so many other places to visit and things to do. Sarlat with its wonderful medieval buildings and quaint cobbled streets is another ‘must visit’ and only a thirty minute drive away. Saturday is market day and colourful stalls line the streets, restaurants are plentiful too. Montignac-sur-Vezere 5 kms, Les Eyzies 20 kms, Terrasson 15 kms, Brive 35 kms, Perigueux 40 kms, there are gardens, chateaux, museums of all sorts, markets, shops, whatever you want, it’s here.
There are activity parks for all ages, canoeing on the Dordogne and Vezere Rivers, fishing too (you’ll need a permit, the property owners willl help with that). Cycling, bikes can be borrowed, walking, tennis courts in Montignac and an 18 hole golf course an easy drive away. There’s something for everyone in the Vezere Valley!
Les Rosiers in France is a stone built, recently converted fermette (farmhouse) and offers spacious comfortable accommodation for up to six people. There are two double and one twin bedded room; one of the doubles is downstairs, which is useful for the less mobile. Each bedroom has its own shower room with thermostatically controlled shower for your comfort and safety and also a ceiling fan. There is a spacious, open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. The fully equipped kitchen includes all you would expect, oven, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and, of course, a dishwasher. A washing machine is provided too. Outside, there’s plenty of space, a shady courtyard for parking, a lovely decked area for sunbathing and eating outside, lawns for games or relaxing. Guests also have use of a strip of riverside land a few minutes from the house, it’s great for picnics, ball games, exploring and fun! The salt water swimming pool (available May to October) is kept at a constant 25/26 degrees and because it’s housed in a huge, soaring sechoir (louvre sided drying barn) you can swim at any time of day, whatever the weather.
