Chyandaunce is situated in the pretty village of Gulval just inland from Mount's Bay between Penzance and Marazion, Cornwall. It stands on the B3311 road between Penzance and St. Ives.
Gulval has its own village shop and excellent food at its Inn. It is 1km from Penzance, the area centre on the south coast, which has every holiday amenity and is 10km to St. Ives on the north coast with its shops, art galleries, restaurants and beaches. Both have facilities for fishing and sailing.
The property is half an hour from numerous coves and beaches and is an excellent base from which to explore the whole of the Penwith Peninsula. Walk the coastal path, laze on the numerous beaches, swim, fish, surf or sail. Go horse riding over the hills, visit the Tate St. Ives and other numerous galleries. Watch a play at the magical Minack Theatre or explore the many prehistoric Celtic sites, particularly the Iron Age Village at Chysauster, just above the village. Go to Land's End or take a day out to the Eden Project or Falmouth's new Maritime Museum. Eat at excellent restaurants and bars, the choices from Chyandaunce are numerous.
Chyandaunce, a traditional Cornish granite village house, has been home to members of the owners' family since the late nineteenth century. John Sampson's grandparents farmed from the house with their 8 children. It was originally half the size but when the family grew, it was extended by what are now the dining room, kitchen and the floor above. In 1998 the house was extensively re-organised so that it could provide perfect holiday accommodation for 8 people.
You will park alongside the house between Chyandaunce and Chyancrowse in front of the walled courtyard garden. From the parking space at the back of the property you enter the dining room with an arch into the kitchen. The present kitchen was once the village forge and on the wall there is an old photograph of people working there. Beyond the dining room the hallway leads to a downstairs twin bedroom and an en suite bathroom.. The bathroom also has an entrance to the hallway so that it can be used generally in the daytime
Upstairs you come first to the lounge with views to the west and north. It has ample seating and there is a radio, T.V.and video player, and shelves of books.
Leading off the top landing there are two bedrooms with double beds, one of these has two sturdy bunk beds and a vanity unit. The shower room on this level has a toilet and hand-basin.
By the time you arrive the house will have moved fully into the 21st Century with Solar Powered water heating!
In the high season (July 12 - Aug 30) prices are for sleeping up to 8 people. Out of season charges are for 4 persons only. Each additional person is £35pp.
