Romanziers is a tiny village whose inhabitants are for the most part farmers, or those who have decided to give up the pressures of city living. The only shop considered necessary in the village is the little boulangerie which bakes fresh bread and croissants ever day from 8am except Thursdays. The nearest village for supplies is Nere approx 5km a reasonable bike ride if you are energetic and you're load isn't too big, or if you are up for relaxation, farm vans come round with different produce most days on the week, cheeses, charcuterie, pate, oysters. They announce their arrival with a very piercing honk - you won't miss them. Otherwise there are markets, a trip out in themselves. They are at Aulnay, Chef-Boutonne, Matha, St Jean d'Angely, Brioux all within half an hour.
The studio was a large barn attached to the owners house which was converted a few years ago to form a spacious, self - contained apartment. It's on one level, completely private with French windows opening ont a secluded patio with access to the pool. This is not heated. It is a light airy space with a high beamed ceiling, with a separate en-suite bathroom. Access to the utility room which is shared with the owners provides a sink and use of washing and drying machines. The studio has its own fridge. The cooking facilities within the studio are a microwave oven with grill, cafetiere and electric kettle, plus its own barbecue for outdoor cooking and garden furniture. It is comfortably furnished with a double bed, chesterfield sofa, & dining table. Please note you will need to provide your own bed linen, towels & tea towels. The owner can provide these at a cost of £20.00
